29th Annual Student Scholars Day

SSD 2025, Redefining Boundaries: AI and the Evolution of Science, Tech, and Culture

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship and the Student Scholars Day Faculty Committee invite students to participate in the 29th annual Student Scholars Day conference. In addition to the diverse disciplines of scholarly interest, the committee encourages students to explore the practical, economic, social, and ethical questions of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into our lives, those who control the data and algorithms wield significant influence over cultural narratives, shaping public perception and discourse. As AI transforms our culture, it challenges traditional notions of authenticity, authority, and accountability, while prompting critical discussions about the ethical implications of automated decision-making.

SSD 2025 seeks to elevate the scholarly work of students across the disciplines. Presenters who explore how AI is redefining boundaries and our understanding of knowledge, creative expression, and truth are invited to participate in a curated session and exhibit.

What is Student Scholars Day?

Student Scholars Day (SSD) celebrates scholarship, research, and creative work performed by GVSU students. Beginning as a single-day research symposium almost 30 years ago, SSD evolved into a multi-day event that celebrates the scholarly process and showcases faculty-mentored student work. Student presentations will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. A full schedule of events for SSD 2025 is available.  This event is coordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.
